Georgian Bay Spirit Co’s connection to Collingwood goes back to the very beginning. Our founders, Tim Keenleyside and Denzil Wadds, came up with the idea for Georgian Bay Gin on a chairlift at Osler Bluff while looking out over Georgian Bay.
Both partners have deep connections to Georgian Bay, including cottage property where wild juniper grows in abundance. It’s only fitting, then, that Collingwood would become the site of Georgian Bay Spirit Co.’s new distilling operation. While the facility will not be open to the public until sometime in 2021, we are already expanding our roots in the Collingwood area, meeting with local businesses and community leaders.
To this end, we’re excited to announce that Georgian Bay Spirit Co. will be a part of this year’s inaugural Collingwood Craft Beverage Tour. The tour, which is run by the Town of Collingwood, includes 4 breweries, 3 distilleries and a kombucha brewer. Participants can get a beverage tour passport to keep track of their favourite products and to be entered in a prize draw. It’s all part of celebrating the amazing variety of craft beverage producers in the Collingwood area while supporting local businesses.
Until we are able to host the public in our distillery, we have partnered with Collingwood’s Lakeside Grill for our tour location. If you’re from Collingwood, or visiting the area, be sure to take the tour and find us at the Lakeside Grill.
