Role Description

The AR Specialist is a key member of the Finance and Accounting team, performing a variety of accounting duties such as accounts receivable (AR), assisting with journal entries and performing reconciliations, as well as supporting the monthly financial cycle process.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Management of AR functions, including:
  • Invoicing various customers on a weekly basis and following up on overdue receivables 
  • Performing internal reconciliations of customer accounts
  • Reviewing and posting Trade Sample Refunds through LCBO
  • Performing month / year-end processes
  • Preparing Weekly Shipment reports, Monthly Shipment reports, and AR reconciliations
  • Performing monthly bank and balance sheets reconciliations
  • Monthly indirect tax functions (GST/HST remittance preparation)
  • Preparing monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepayments and reclasses
  • Sales and Marketing related journal entries: Marketing Accrual, National Accounts Accrual, LTO Accrual, Commissions Accruals, Deferred Marketing Expenses Reclass
  • Distillery related journal entries: Distillery Utilities Accrual, Distillery Prepaid Expenses Reclass
  • Other journal entries: Prepaid Insurance Reclasses, FG Freight Reallocation Accrual, YTD Bonus Accruals, GST/HST from Prepaid Reclass, HR Invoice Accrual
  • Performing administrative duties over corporate credit cards
  • Reviewing and improving existing processes
  • Assisting in implementation of new AP software system
  • Ad-hoc reconciliations, analysis, and projects as required

What You’ll Need:

  • Education in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • 1-2 years of experience in hands-on accounting operations preferred
  • Strong demonstrable skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain financial concepts to non-finance people
  • An entrepreneurial spirit – strong desire to “roll up your sleeves” and get involved
  • Excellent time-management skills: able to multi-task, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and re-prioritize as things change
  • Quick learner, detail oriented
  • Capable of taking initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
  • Working towards CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation an asset
  • SAP experience, an asset
  • Experience with Supply and Production, an asset
